Aahwahan Foundation Inaugurates Model Astronomy Lab at Govt Girls School in Delhi
Aahwahan Foundation, a NGO dedicated to improving the lives of economically disadvantaged communities by generating employment across sectors has achieved a significant national milestone in science education with the inauguration of Model Astronomy Lab at Government Girls Senior Secondary School No. 3, Badarpur, Delhi. The initiative has been implemented with CSR support from Nokia, and stands among the most advanced astronomy labs established within India’s government school ecosystem.
The Model Astronomy Lab helps students grasp tough concepts of astronomy and space science through interactive, visual tools with detailed models of the solar system, celestial bodies, rockets, and satellites, plus visual representations of galaxies, stars, and cosmic phenomena. Designed as an immersive learning space, the hands-on approach invites observation, inquiry, and critical thinking, fostering a scientific temperament and clearer concepts.
Mr. Braja Kishore Pradhan, CEO & Founder, Aahwahan Foundation, said, “The science laboratory further strengthens the belief that quality science education should reach every child. Establishing this facility in a government girls’ school is a significant step toward empowering young students to explore, question, and dream big. With the establishment of this laboratory, the students will now be able to learn and understand science through practical, hands-on experience, just like their counterparts in well-equipped private schools. This laboratory will undoubtedly prove to be highly beneficial for the overall development of the students of this school.”
This project reflects Aahwahan Foundation’s continued focus on strengthening science education in government schools that serve economically and socially underserved communities. By establishing a world-class astronomy lab in a government girls’ school, the Foundation aims to bridge infrastructure gaps in public education while promoting experiential learning and encouraging greater participation of girls in STEM disciplines.
For students of the school, many of whom are first-generation learners, the lab provides access to advanced scientific exposure that was previously unavailable. The initiative is expected to enhance academic engagement, broaden awareness of STEM career pathways, and inspire sustained interest in science and innovation, particularly among girl students.
The collaboration highlights the role of responsible corporate participation in strengthening public education through impactful CSR initiatives.
