Awareness sessions on Road Safety at Tata Steel Meramandali
As part of its efforts to reinforce the commitment to road safety, Tata Steel Meramandali, located in Narendraur of Dhenkanal district, is currently organising a series of events for its month-long Road Safety campaign.
Mass meetings, mega road safety awareness rallies, surprise alcohol checks, positive reinforcement on-road safety themes, etc. are being carried out with the help of the District Administration at National Highway Number 55, adjacent to the plant. Awareness campaigns to enlighten both the employees and local communities on the ways to improve safety, minimise road crash casualties are also being organised.
To encourage the team involved in the campaign, the traffic volunteers in the plant and members of Quick Reaction Team of security department who play a crucial role in road safety management inside the plant, were also felicitated by Mr Abhishek Sharma, Head, Security, Tata Steel Meramandali.
The 33rd National Road Safety Month is being observed from January 18 to February 17, 2022 under the auspices of the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, Government of India. The National Safety Council supplements the government’s initiative by promoting road safety campaigns across the country. The month-long campaign is mostly being organised virtually, keeping in view the COVID 19 protocols. Some of the key events are online quiz competition, online hazard hunt competition, etc. Moreover, any exemplary safety performance by the employees, contractor workers and vendor partners will be recognised and felicitated at the end of the campaign.
Subrata Basak, Chief Logistics Officer and Chairman Apex Rail & Road Safety Sub-Committee (ARRSSC), Tata Steel Meramandali, formally launched this month-long campaign virtually on January 18, 2022 in the presence of Agam Kumar, Chief Safety, Tata Steel Meramandali, along with the ARRSSC members, safety professionals and captains, safety champions, employees, and business partners of Tata Steel Meramandali.
