BEL adopts Telangana village, gives a facelift to Govt School & Anganwadi catering to the needy

A government school and an anganwadi in the Chowdammagutta Thanda village of Farooqnagar Mandal, Mahbubnagar District, Telangana, have been given new life thanks to Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited’s CSR intervention (BEL).

BEL, which has adopted this village, has implemented CSR initiatives that address the villagers’ basic needs while also transforming their lives.

The Government Mandal Parishad Primary School and Anganwadi building in the same chemical were in disrepair, with a leaking roof and rundown walls. Thanks to BEL’s interference, both the school and the Anganwadi now have a new compound wall.

The new school has two floors, six classrooms, and separate restrooms for boys and girls. A kitchen and a storage room have been installed at the Anganwadi to facilitate mid-day meals.

Notably, both institutions serve poor, needy, and underprivileged students from the surrounding communities. Around 150 students from Class I to V at the school, as well as 35 Pre-nursery children who use the Anganwadi services, now have a conducive learning environment.

Damodar Bhattad, BEL’s Director (Finance) and CFO, handed over the newly constructed buildings and other facilities to the District Education Officer of Ranga Reddy District, Telangana. BEL’s Independent Director Nath Yadav, General Manager (BEL-Hyderabad) Srinivas K, BEL’s Company Secretary Sreenivas S, and other senior BEL officers, government officials, Chowdammagutta Thanda Village residents, teachers, parents, and students were in attendance.

BEL has adopted Chowdammagutta Thanda village as part of the Government of India’s flagship Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan programme.

The defence major has installed a RO water filtration plant with provisions for drinking water storage in the village itself. Bore-wells have also been dug, and plans have been made to store bore-well water in elevated storage tanks for daily use by the villagers.
