BYJU’S Education For All And Isha Vidhya Join Forces To Bring Digital Learning to Children in Rural Tamil Nadu And Andhra Pradesh
With the aim to empower and provide children across geographies with equal learning opportunities, the BYJU’S ‘Education for All’ initiative has collaborated with Coimbatore-based NGO Isha Vidhya to provide digital learning tools to underprivileged children in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. Through this partnership, children with no or fewer means of learning will get access to BYJU’S high-quality and tech-driven learning programs.
This effort further enables BYJU’S mission of providing a conducive learning environment to students and helping children from disadvantaged backgrounds in reaching and enhancing their full potential. This initiative is a significant step in BYJU’S vision of building an India where high-quality school education is accessible and affordable to all, and especially children in rural areas. BYJU’S strongly believes that every child, irrespective of their socio-economic background, location, or proficiency levels, must get an equal opportunity to learn.
Isha Vidhya, has 10 rural schools in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh that serve over 8,500 children in these two states, ranging from kindergarten to class 12. The team at Isha Vidhya also carries out critical interventions in 34 rural Government schools in the districts of Tirupur, Coimbatore, Salem, and Kanchipuram in Tamil Nadu, impacting 10,000 students and 72 teachers. Over 60% of the students in these schools are first-generation learners, and are supported by scholarships.
Speaking about the initiative, Mansi Kasliwal, VP- Social Initiatives, BYJU’S, said, “At BYJU’S, we are dedicated in our efforts to bridge the gap between education and access. We are relentlessly working towards breaking the barriers to education by leveraging the power of technology. This enables us to not only make high-quality education accessible to children from underserved communities, but also make it at par with students from urban and privileged backgrounds. The Isha Vidhya Foundation shares this vision with us by blending modern teaching methods to educate children from rural areas. This partnership is one of many more to come, and we wish to continue working with like-minded and renowned partners on this journey to make digital learning accessible and inclusive.”
Talking about the collaboration, Prabhu Loganathan, Senior Fundraising Coordinator, Isha Education, said, “The objective of Isha Vidhya schools is centred around providing quality education to children from underprivileged backgrounds. We believe in providing students with relevant exposure and equipping them with essential skills. Our teachers receive extensive and on-going training to inculcate the right environment and holistic experience for students. We are very happy to collaborate with BYJU’S ‘Education For All’ initiative as we believe in coming together and aligning our efforts to collectively benefit millions of students and build a brighter future together.”
