Godrej advances youth skilling: 45 percent of FY25 Disha Trainees Secure Jobs

Godrej Enterprises Group has reaffirmed its long-standing commitment to skilling India’s youth through its flagship initiative, Project Disha. Since its inception in 2011, Project Disha has impacted over 200,000 young individuals, empowering them with practical skills and industry exposure to enhance their employability and long-term career prospects. In FY25, the company trained over 9000 candidates of which 45% candidates are now employed.

Speaking on the occasion, Ashwini Deodeshmukh, Head, CSR & Sustainability Reporting, Godrej Enterprises Group, said, "With a significant youth population, India is uniquely positioned to leverage its demographic dividend. However, it must be ensured that young people are ready to take on roles demanded by the rapidly shifting technological innovations and cross-cutting roles across sectors. As we mark World Youth Skills Day, we are proud to celebrate the impact of Project Disha and deepen our engagement with institutions that are shaping India’s workforce.  Our partnerships with ITIs and our continued investment in training infrastructure reflect our belief in inclusive, future-ready development."

Godrej’s skilling initiatives under Project Disha address critical trade domains such as manufacturing, project ecosystem services, sales and aftercare, and digital technology—areas vital to India’s evolving economy and the growing demand for a future-ready workforce. Beyond vocational training, the company is building a robust ecosystem for skill development by transforming partner institutions into Centres of Excellence (CoEs). These CoEs are equipped with advanced machines, cutting-edge tools, and industry-aligned pedagogy, supported by infrastructure upgrades that enable training centres to deliver world-class instruction.

Strategic partnerships with skilling institutions, particularly Government Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), have enabled Godrej to extend opportunities to youth from diverse socio-economic and regional backgrounds. Recently, the Group announced a collaboration with the ITI's in Maharashtra to modernise the facilities in Mumbai, Raigad, and Satara. This initiative focuses on upgrading institutional infrastructure, embedding real-world industry insights into training curricula, and equipping students with practical skills that bridge the gap between education and employment.

As a knowledge partner, Godrej helps institutions update curricula to reflect industry trends in trades like welding, fitting, refrigeration and air conditioning (RAC), lift maintenance, and IoT-enabled manufacturing systems. Students also benefit from well-equipped labs and exposure visits to Godrej Enterprises Group’s factories, gaining vital on-the-job experience.

Through Project Disha, Godrej Enterprises Group demonstrates how industry can catalyse India’s human capital development while addressing talent needs in modern manufacturing, service, and digital sectors investing in the nation’s future workforce.
