How BYJUites Planted the Seeds for a Better Future

Lady Bird Johnson, the former first lady of the United States, once said – “The environment is where we all meet; where we all have a mutual interest; it is the one thing all of us share.”

The bright morning of 27 February, which was celebrated as World NGO Day, was also the start of a special day for BYJUites. Just as the sun slowly rose to embrace the city with its energy, BYJUites were at work, trying their hand in making a lakeside green.

We gathered at the Vibhutipura Lake, Bangalore, to plant saplings to honour the efforts of our 110 NGO partners in providing education for children. Together, we planted about 150 saplings around the lakeside and had a fun time getting our hands dirty.

Christina J Helen, Lead, Delivery & Production, says that she has been looking forward to this event ever since she heard about it.

On seeing BYJUites in action, passersby including children were encouraged to participate with us in the activity. Together, we planted a variety of saplings including forest trees like the Indian beach tree, along with fruiting trees like Mango, Jackfruit, and the Indian blackberry.

“Nature is something we should treasure and is a heritage for the next generation. It was a matter of pride to be a part of the tree plantation drive,” says Prabhat Kumar, Executive, Internal Communications.

Giridharan S, Senior Creative Associate – CGI, Assets, too felt like he made a difference. He says, “It was so interesting, I felt that I did something good for the place we are living in.”

“The team in black, planting saplings at Vibhutipura Lake was a powerful sight,” says Mansi Kasliwal, VP, Social Initiatives.

The plantation drive is one of the many more social events to come for BYJUites. Together, we hope to do more and make the world a better place for all our future generations.
