Self-help groups supported by Reliance come forward to help front line workers in times of COVID-19
The on-going health crisis has caused the entire nation to come together and help in any way possible to fight against the spread of novel coronavirus. Inspiring stories have come out from the states of Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh where self-help groups (SHG), supported by Reliance Foundation, have volunteered to do their bit.
In Shahdol, Madhya Pradesh and Vadodara and Jamnagar in Gujarat, self-help groups have come forward to help in the battle against COVID-19 by sewing masks for the frontline workers like heath care personnel, sanitation workers, police men, and people engaged in providing essential services, for example, the truck drivers. These heroes who have been tirelessly performing their duties to protect the nation in times of the novel coronavirus, also need protection as they venture out of their homes. The masks will help serve the purpose of keeping them safe.

Several other Reliance Foundation supported SHGs across the country are also engaging in activities to support their local community during these challenging times. Women are coming together and taking a leading role to help their community and are setting an example of unity and female empowerment. It’s a great learning to see these women go the extra mile for the greater good of their community and the nation as well.
Reliance is actively engaged in working for the cause of ‘Corona Haarega India Jeetega’ through various initiatives like Mission Anna Seva, setting up India’s first dedicated COVID-19 facility, developing the coronavirus symptoms checker, helping truck drivers with dry food and masks, providing free fuel for ambulances, organising virtual audio conference facility, to name a few.
