Tata Steel Meramandali observes International Women’s Day
Tata Steel Meramandali located in Dhenkanal District of Odisha celebrated International Women’s Day on March 8, 2022. To mark this occasion, its CSR department organised a function at Nuagaon village near the plant where women achievers of nearby villages around plant participated.
Madhusmita Bishi, Assistant Collector, Angul, graced the programme as the chief guest on this occasion and felicitated women achievers. Among other delegates, Dr Ambika Nanda, Head, CSR, Odisha, Tata Steel, Dibyahas Ray, Head, CSR, Tata Steel Meramandali, Dr Atmaja Patnaik, Senior Registrar, Medical Services, Tata Steel, Ashutosh Das, Senior Manager Tata Steel were also present.
Three individual women entrepreneurs Bindu Sagarkaran for vegetable farming and supply, Pushpalata Sahoo for liquid dish wash business, Sumitra Bhoi for stationary shop were recognized. Similarly two group-based women entrepreneurs Maa Annapurna for phynle making and Maa Banadevi for pisciculture from villages of Banarpal block of Angul district, Odapada, Hindol blocks of Dhenkanal district were felicitated for breaking the stereotype by foraying into such enterprises.
Members of the Gruhalaxmi Cooperative, one of the biggest cooperatives in this region with a member base of 1435 members supported by Tata Steel Meramandali had participated in the programme. Gruhalaxmi cooperative is promoting various enterprises such as mushroom unit, incense stick, phenyl making unit, mask making, managing grocery shops, garment shop, poultry making, vegetable vending, tailoring, etc.
Similarly within the plant the occasion was celebrated in different departments in presence of women employees to appreciate their contributions and motivate them for a better future.
