Since its inception in 1995, Wipro has supported and enabled more than 30,000 students to pursue their higher education in Engineering with India’s Premier Engineering Institutions under the programs WASE, WiSTA and WIMS. Over 18,200 students successfully completed their M.Tech degree in various IT disciplines over the last two decades. During FY 2019, the total number of new entrants into the three programs was 1,440 while the aggregate strength across four years was over 10,000.

8. The Primary Education Programme

The Primary Education Programme provides children from weaker sections of society in the Company’s factory catchments access to education with a focus on learning outcomes and retention. The program covered 1.15 lakh children during the year, thus taking the total coverage to around 6.91 lakh children. In addition, nearly 27,000 children were covered through support in teaching and learning material. 199 government primary schools were provided infrastructure support comprising boundary walls, additional classrooms, sanitation units, and furniture, taking the total number of government primary schools covered to date to 1,802.
