
Mahindra and Mahindra Financial Services Spends INR 27 Cr. on CSR Projects in 2018-19 with Focus on Healthcare

When it started it out was initially known by the name Mahindra Finance and later changed its name to Mahindra and Mahindra financial services. Vehicle financing, insurance broking, mutual fund distribution and SME financing are some of the services offered by Mahindra and Mahindra.

Some of the company’s notable projects include the Sehat project, Swachh Bharat, Hunnar and Shiksha.
For the Sehat project, the company contributed towards ensuring free and affordable care and gynaecologist services. 3000 liver transplants were done. The initiative involved a number of partners such as the Chovisgam Sacchidanand Medical and Research Centre, the Rugna Seva Prakalp, Dada Virendrapuriji Charitable Trust, Lok Kalyan Samiti, Development Agency for Poor and Tribal Awakening [DAPTA], Jai Narayan Charitable Trust, The Leprosy Mission Trust India, Christian Hospital Kasganj, Lions District Service Trust, Holy Family Hansenorium, Seva Bharathi and Dharmabharathi Charitable Trust. These hospitals and charitable trusts put up Medical Camps and promoted awareness regarding various diseases, hunger and malnutrition. The nation-wide initiative took place across various locations. New Delhi, Baroda, Gurugram, Mangalore, Mumbai, Thane, Aurangabad, Akola, Bhubaneswar, Nagpur, Lucknow, Coimbatore, Kolkata, Guwahati, Vijayawada, Singhbhum and Ranchi were actively involved in this flagship project. They also served the thalassemia children, along with arrangements for improving mother and child healthcare. This project benefitted 4,085 pregnant women, thousands of children and 7,919 adolescent girls from nearly 240 high-need villages. Healthcare programs like Sehat are extremely important and can benefit a large number of people.
Cleanliness and hygiene form a crucial part of our lives. It is essential that we maintain a certain degree of cleanliness in our homes, at our workplace and keep our surroundings clean. With this thought in mind, the company started the Project called Swachh Bharat. The programme mainly focused on creating awareness about hygiene, especially in the rural areas. The initiative is about educating the rural people about sanitation and how significantly important it is for the girls. Without proper sanitation, there can even be life threatening diseases.
Another flagship programme is the Shiksha initiative, under which the company provided education and scholarship to economically backward sections of the society. It extended scholarships to 3000 deserving and talented graduate and post‑graduate students. These initiatives are great to show support to these students and acknowledge their merit that otherwise does not get enough opportunities.
