Marching Towards A Hunger-Free Artisan Community

Jaipur Rugs Foundation with Feeding India by Zomato distributed ration kits in Manpura, Rajasthan, last Friday. With this, Jaipur Rugs Foundation began the third phase of its ration drive, which is a part of its social development program of providing essential food security to the artisan community. This program, in collaboration with Feeding India, works to empower artisans to escape the precincts of poverty and hunger by creating sustainable market-based solutions. This has helped the artisans to save some money and spend that on other needs like the education and health care of their families.

In previous phases, this partnership was successful in distributing 12000 ration kits to the underserved communities who were affected by the pandemic in Rajasthan. The target for the third phase is 5000 ration kits which are progressing smoothly.

“Things took a drastic change when my husband passed away due to corona. Losing my husband in an uncertain scenario, our economic condition was at a point where I had no time to even mourn my spouse’s death. The complete responsibility for my son and two daughters came onto my shoulders. I started farming and weaving to fulfill the basic needs of my family.

The ration provided by Jaipur Rugs Foundation and Feeding India helped me save some money that I used to buy some new clothes for my kids. The smile this brought on my kids’ faces was priceless. My family and I are very thankful to Jaipur Rugs Foundation and Feeding India by Zomato.”
