The story of Manav Sadhna begins well past its inception. Their inspiration springs from the life message and principles of Mahatma Gandhi, Swami Vivekanand, and other dedicated freedom fighters and social reformers, such as Babubhai Harilal Joshi. Shri Ishwarbhai Patel further paved the way through his mentorship and life-long dedication to service. However, the organization took shape when the founders, overwhelmed by the loving reception of the children of the Parikshitlal Ashramshala (a hostel based in the Gandhi Ashram), were moved by the extreme poverty and dire circumstances of the premises and its young residents.

Registered in the US and India in 1990, Manav Sadhna started with the simple intention of gathering underprivileged children under the trees of Environment Sanitation Institute in the Gandhi Ashram to give them love, nutrition, and a chance to enjoy their childhood. This project slowly evolved into the extensive ecosystem of Manav Sadhna today.

Guided by the spirit to Love all, Serve all, they follow Mahatma Gandhi’s messages of love, non-violence, and compassion in our work. Through their programs are constructive, they believe in the power of love and compassion to truly transform an individual and revolutionize society. From a peaceful corner of the Sabarmati Gandhi Ashram, Manav Sadhna (MS) has been humbly serving since 1995 to strengthen underprivileged communities in Ahmedabad through holistic education, nutrition, health, and hygiene programs, youth and women’s empowerment, senior care, livelihoods, and more. Although there is great diversity amongst these programs, they are all based on people’s participation and evolve according to the needs of the community. Over time, they have seen the holistic growth transformation of the communities with significant improvements in sanitation, education, and health.

• Over the years Manav Sadhna has adopted the model of developing Community Centers in the heart of urban slums as a space that enables the holistic development of the community. Currently, Manav Sadhna operates six Community Centers in various slum communities across Ahmedabad. Each center runs programs based on the needs of that community.
• Deepen and Stronger relationships and trust with the communities, which helped us in understanding local needs and implementing and evolving projects accordingly.
• Working and Empowering all segments ( Children, Young Adults, Women, and Seniors) through a range of relevant Programs.

Since 1995, Manav Sadhna is serving the community daily and consistently through community-based Initiatives to strengthen underprivileged communities in Ahmedabad through 42 different programs in Holistic Education, Nutrition, Health and Hygiene, Youth and Women’s Empowerment, Senior Care, Livelihoods, and more. Through transparency of their activities and intentions, they were able to create strong relationships and trust with the communities. This helped them to implement their program peacefully. SDG's given by the United nation are at the center of their programs. They are working on the Zero Hunger, Good health and well-being, Quality Education, Gender Equality, Climate Action goals through their different programs. Around 12480 are served daily through 42 different programs. They have developed 6 community centers in the heart of these communities that enable the holistic development of the community.
