About the organization
United Way India is a part of United Way Worldwide is a US based international non-profit organization headquartered in Virginia. United Way Worldwide is a 132-year-old volunteer led global movement of 1600 community chapters across 47 countries, engaging over 2.5 million volunteers. In India, United Way was established 32 years ago, and today has a nationwide presence operating from 7 cities through its strong network of local chapters namely Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, Baroda and Kolkata. With close to a million lives positively impacted, the organization envisions a stronger India, where communities have access to quality education, income stability and healthcare.
Since 2002, United Way India has also played a leadership role during major national calamities by proactively responding to the needs of disaster affected communities, including immediate, mid term and long term rehabilitation. We have positively impacted more than 11,000 lives and conducted interventions in 4 states, across areas of education, WASH and disability.
The United Way India network leverages the strength of over 10,000 volunteers, and supports 400+ NGOs across the country. Each of our local chapters is rooted in mobilizing the power of local communities to advance the common good, and is led by strong industry and community leaders. It strives to be a torchbearer for impactful philanthropy for building sustainable communities, by engaging all relevant stakeholders including corporate and individual donors, local communities, volunteers, sector experts and the government.
